Dr. Michael Hammer has changed forever how businesses do business. He is the originator of reengineering, process-centered enterprises, and superefficiency, managerial innovations that have become part of standard business practice. Thousands of companies around the world have translated his ideas about operations and organization into practice and profit.
Dr. Michael Hammer has written four books, including the international best seller Reengineering the Corporation, the most important business book of the 1990s. His book The Agenda: What Every Business Must Do to Dominate the Decade lays out nine key steps that companies of every size and in every industry must do to survive and flourish in today's tougher-than-ever marketplace. His articles have appeared in publications from Harvard Business Review to The Economist, and his work has been featured in every major business periodical. From his base in Cambridge, Massachusetts, he disseminates his latest ideas and discoveries through public courses and conferences that are attended by thousands of people annually.
An engineer by training, Dr. Michael Hammer is obsessed with the nuts and bolts of business: how companies develop and sell products, how they fill orders and serve customers, how they organize and motivate their employees. He leaves to others the contemplation of grandiose questions of strategy. His work is relentlessly pragmatic and immediately relevant.
Dr. Michael Hammer was formerly a professor of computer science at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and he is a founder and director of several high technology companies. He was ranked by Business Week as one of the four preeminent management thinkers of the 1990s, and he was named by TIME to its first list of America's twenty-five most influential individuals.
