Biography

Jeff B. Harmon is an award-winning writer, director and producer whose films have aired on the BBC, Channel 4 (UK), National Geographic Explorer, PBS, and other networks throughout the world. His films have created considerable controversy and won various awards including Britain's prestigious Royal Television Society Journalism Award, the Ace Award (the highest award in U.S. cable television), and the Grand Award at the Houston International Film Festival. His work has also earned him three execution orders on his life.

Mr. Harmon and his Afghanistan films were profiled in a special for National Geographic Explorer and MSNBC. Footage from his films was also prominently featured in The History Channel's Guns of Afghanistan, Ted Turner's and Sir Jeremy Isaacs' landmark series, Cold War as well as the feature film Charlie Wilson's War starring Tom Hanks.

Jeff Harmon is also a former war correspondent and photographer who spent over twenty years capturing the dark side of history. He successfully penetrated El Salvador's right-wing death squads, Paraguay's Nazi underground, Idi Amin's secret police as well as various guerrilla and criminal organizations throughout the world. A visitor to the abyss, he covered among his many assignments Emperor Bokassa's coronation, the war in El Salvador, the war in Afghanistan from both the mujahideen and Soviet sides and Saddam Hussein's Iraq. His writings and photographs have been published in various periodicals including Life, Harper's, The Sunday Times Magazine, The Independent Magazine, New Statesman, Icon, Penthouse, and The Daily Telegraph.

Mr. Harmon has been profiled in American and international television programs, magazines and newspapers including Esquire, The Guardian, The Daily News, The Sydney Times Herald, Time Out, Television Broadcast, NBC Europe's The Ticket, Bravo, and the Independent Film Channel's Split Screen, Heroes Made in the USA, and a Canal Plus special on the Cannes Film Festival.

Jeff Harmon has developed television series concepts on espionage and sorcery for such networks as CBS and Channel 4 (UK). He is currently writing his memoirs about his years on the front lines.
