Biography

Jordan Lewis, Ph.D., is widely regarded as one of the world's foremost authorities on alliances. His three books on the topic, Trusted Partners: How Companies Build Mutual Trust and Win Together, The Connected Corporation, and Partnerships for Profit: Structuring and Managing Strategic Alliances, have been published in 12 languages. He has taught at the Columbia, Dartmouth, London, Northwestern, and Wharton business schools.

Jordan Lewis's work defines the cutting edge in building every kind of alliance, including those between companies and their customers, suppliers, and rivals, and between units within a firm. His scope covers all aspects of alliances: judging the potential, diagnosing problems, and guiding implementation. He addresses all strategic, joint leadership, inter-organizational, and internal alignment issues. He also coaches firms on benefit sharing, joint planning, conflict resolution, trust building, risk sharing, and joint governance.

Dr. Lewis is active throughout Asia, Europe, North and South America, and the Middle East, advising companies such as American Express, DuPont, Ford, GE, H-P, Hitachi, IBM, Marriott, Merck, P&G, Royal Bank of Scotland, Siemens, and Tesco.

Dr. Jordan Lewis is most at home in the trenches, resolving the many issues involved in creating successful alliances. Over the past 30 years he has built and often repaired alliances for leading companies worldwide.

Jordan Lewis is a Fellow of the World Economic Forum, and a senior adviser to MacNeil/Lehrer Productions. He serves on the board and executive committee of the International Centre for Missing and Exploited Children. Jordan Lewis also chaired the Institutional Investor panel on corporate governance. He received a Ph.D. in Nuclear Science and four engineering degrees from the University of Michigan. While there, he taught courses in physics and in computer applications and was elected to Sigma Xi, the national science honorary.

A popular speaker, Lewis has keynoted major forums in the United States as well as in Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Chile, France, Holland, Hong Kong, India, Ireland, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Monaco, Philippines, Portugal, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and Uruguay. He has spoken at six Euromoney/Institutional Investor events in Europe, the mid-East and the U.S.; five Business Week events in Asia, Europe, and the U.S.; four annual meetings of the World Economic Forum, in Davos, Switzerland, three Economist programs in Asia-Pacific and Europe; and two major Fortune conferences in Europe and the U.S.

Jordan Lewis' presentations cover every dimension of successful alliances. Specific topics draw from his expertise on building, managing, and repairing alliances between all kinds of organizations, including ones with customers, suppliers, and rivals. Other popular subjects cover alliances between internal groups - essential for every organization - and using alliance practices to improve mergers and acquisitions. He designs each talk to meet the program's needs and he is highly interactive with the audience. Jordan Lewis has spoken to groups as large as 4,000 and as small as 10, with the latter usually in a workshop format.
