Biography

Since becoming a full-time speaker in 1980, Patrick O'Dooley has spoken over 2,000 times to corporations and associations in all 50 states and in seven foreign nations. His clients include American Airlines, Lockheed Corporation, Allstate Insurance, Merrill Lynch Pierce, AT&T, IBM, and the Ford Corporation. From his background as a college athlete, military officer and pilot, to his very successful years in business with IBM and Steelcase, Patrick O'Dooley brings specific "how tos" to his audiences that they can relate to and start using immediately.

Most of his clients are either repeats or referrals, and this is one reason Patrick O'Dooley has been awarded the highest designation given by the National Speaker's Association, that of a Certified Speaking Professional (CSA).

Patrick O'Dooley believes that anyone can be a winner, because winning is based on attitude, not aptitude, and that people control whether or not they will be a winner in life, regardless of their natural abilities. Patrick O'Dooley is dyslexic and in school frequently reversed letters when reading and writing. His teachers thought he had low aptitude. While Patrick O'Dooley did not have control over his aptitude, he did develop what he had control over: his attitude. Patrick O'Dooley has achieved much more than he ever would have as a perfect speller with a poor attitude. He leaves his audiences with the message, "Don't view potential in terms of physical or mental aptitudes, it is attitude that makes the difference!"

Based on Patrick O'Dooley's book, Flight Plan for Living, Patrick draws upon his background as a military officer and pilot to deliver stories and techniques to help audiences fly through life. He chose the flying analogy because he sees many parallels between living a successful, happy, and healthy life, and techniques pilots use on today's high-speed jets. Patrick O'Dooley's research has given him a treasure trove of popular and effective anecdotes that illustrates simple principles of everyday living.
