The National Speakers Association's awarded Thom Winninger their Cavett Award, the highest award given by the 4,000 members of the NSA. The Cavett Award is presented annually to the one NSA member whose accomplishments over the years reflect outstanding credit, respect, honor, and admiration in the Association and the speaking profession. The award was created to celebrate those members whose careers demonstrate the spirit of sharing, guiding, and inspiring other professional speakers.
The NSA also established the Council of Peers Award for Excellence Speaker Hall of Fame (CPAE) to honor professional speakers who have reached the top echelon of platform excellence. In 1987 Thom Winninger was inducted into the CPAE Speaker Hall of Fame.
