"Provocative." "Opinionated." "Real." These are a few of the many names associated with Ananda Lewis, an award-winning broadcast personality who is seen on the hit celebrity news show, The Insider with Pat O'Brien. Some of Ms. Lewis's previous accomplishments include hosting her own talk show The Ananda Lewis Show, as well as hosting shows and specials on BET and MTV, earning her recognition from peers and the adoration of a worldwide fan base who continue to watch her star rise. Recognized as one of our country's new generation of leaders, this Howard University graduate has long been committed to social activism and youth causes that bridge the generation gap, including race and prejudice, mental health, literacy, prevention of worldwide childhood starvation, and animal cruelty prevention.
Some highlights of Ananda Lewis's career include her roles as celebrity spokesperson for Pepsi, BBK Healthcare, Reading is Fundamental (RIF) and celebrity spokesperson and on-air radio host for Moet & Chandon. Active in humanitarian causes, Ananda Lewis participated in a five-day mission of feeding and clothing children orphaned by AIDS in Ambo, Ethiopia, and was a featured panelist in MSNBC's "Live Race Relations Forum" from the historical 16th St. Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL. Ananda Lewis hosted the United Nation's "International Day of Ending Racial Discrimination" with Mary Robinson, and hosted the White House Teen Suicide Prevention Forum with former Surgeon General, David Satcher. Along with Tipper Gore, Ananda Lewis was a featured speaker at the White House launch of the National Mental Health Awareness Campaign- White House launch. Ananda Lewis was awarded the NAACP Image Award in 2001 for her MTV Special, True Life: I Am Driving While Black, and won the Teen Choice Awards for "Best TV Personality" nomination in 2002. She was voted one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People" in 2000, one of Cosmopolitan Magazine's "Fun Fearless Females" in 2001, and voted a "Cosmo Girl of the Year" in 2001.
Ananda Lewis has been featured in such magazines as Vogue, Essence, Self, Cosmopolitan, Allure, W, US, Honey, and TV Guide. Her celebrity talk circuit appearances include appearances on Politically Incorrect with Bill Maher, The View, The Howard Stern Show, The Chris Rock Show, The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn,Hollywood Squares, and BET Tonight with Ed Gordon.
