Diane Dorrans Saeks is a San Francisco editor, design lecturer, and feature writer whose focus is on interior design, architecture, gardens, travel, and fashion.
Saeks is the author of numerous books, including Hollywood Houses (2005), which takes readers on an insider's tour of some of the most beautiful and alluring private houses, classic residences, and historic hotels Hollywood has to offer. Her book San Francisco Style: Design, Decor, and Architecture (2004) highlights innovative approaches to design. Country Interiors (2004) and Seaside Interiors (2004) both showcase beautiful and inventive interiors.
Diane Saeks was a founding editor of Metropolitan Home, a U.S.A. magazine covering entertainment at home, and is the magazine's California editor. She has been the California contributing editor for Garden Design magazine since its inception. Garden Design is a lifestyle magazine edited for the upscale, design-conscious reader who is serious and passionate about the beauty of gardening. For both publications, Diane Saeks produces and directs the editorial photography, styles the photo shoots, plans the features, and writes the editorial articles.
Additionally, Diane Saeks writes and produces features on design, architecture, and gardens for the San Francisco Chronicle, Coastal Living, Departures, and The New York Times. She is a correspondent for Belle, a leading design/style magazine based in Sydney, Australia, and was a staff writer for Vogue Living and Vogue Australia. She has written for newspapers and magazines around the world, including The Times London, Mademoiselle, In Style, the Los Angeles Times, Sydney Morning Herald, Athens News, eLuxury.com, Graphis, Departures, Organic Style, and California Homes. Ms. Saeks is the lifestyle editor for Pebble Beach, The Magazine, the San Francisco correspondent for W magazine and Women's Wear Daily (WWD), and the interior design editor of PaperCity, published in San Francisco, Houston, Dallas, and Atlanta. PaperCity follows the national and global arenas in fashion, home design, trends, and food and travel.
An instructor on interior design, antiques, and design theory, Diane Saeks teaches at the University of California, Berkeley Extension. She presents design seminars at the California College of Arts and Crafts and other design/fashion institutes and colleges. Ms. Saeks speaks and lectures on design concept and theory and insider views of interior design and creative designers.
