Jan Fox’s 4 Emmy Awards attest to her stellar almost 30-year television career. Jan’s working career started in 3rd grade. Even back then, she was in the news business. Hot off the press, she delivered the Indianapolis Star in her neighborhood. After school, she swept out her uncle’s old shoe repair shop. She says she can still smell the glue and chemicals. Every summer, she took radishes and onions from her mother’s garden and sold them to the neighbors for candy money. At 8 years old, she had three jobs, and nothing has changed.

That girl from the corner of Montgomery and Locust Streets in Shelbyville, Indiana ended up interviewing celebrities, talking with presidents, and winning Emmys in top television markets. Her only role model on TV, as a kid, was Lucy—as in I Love Lucy!She attended a small college in Missouri, taught kindergarten, and eventually taught teachers at Lesley University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, where she earned a Master’s Degree in Humanistic Studies.
By a strange fluke, Jan hosted a talk show at WCVB TV in Boston—the ABC station that netted her first Emmy. Ms. Fox was subsequently asked to anchor an award winning 6 & 11 pm news show at WCSH TV in Portland, ME an NBC station. Within a couple of years, the news went from # 2 to #1, with a 51% share of the market. She then moved to WUSA TV in Washington, DC where Jan earned 3 more Emmys, and served almost 20 years at the CBS affiliate.
In a career move following her years in television, Jan joined Billy Casper Golf—the largest golf management company in the country. She trained company owners and managers to be stellar speakers, powerful presenters, and stronger leaders. As the word spread quickly, Jan hung out her shingle–Fox Talks. She has keynoted many events and has trained executives, TEDx speakers, and sales teams to Speak Better – Sell More.
