Future | Technology Dr. Purdy is a principal analyst with MobileTrax, a professional services firm that focuses on the mobile computing and wireless data market. He is also a Venture Partner with Diamondhead Ventures who invest in the mobile and wireless industry. Dr. Gerry Purdy has focused on mobile and wireless markets since 1986 and has become recognized as an industry authority in the mobile computing industry. He is often quoted in such publications as the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, PC Week, InfoWorld, The San Jose Mercury News, and the New York Times. He is also an accomplished public speaker who has done many addresses at major industry conferences. Prior to founding MobileTrax, Dr. Purdy was head of Mobile Insights, a conference and market research company. Dr. Purdy was also VP and chief analyst for mobile computing at Dataquest. Gerry Purdy has also held marketing positions with Connecting Point (now Intelligent Electronics), Compaq, Fujitsu (Poqet division), and Phoenix Technologies. Dr. Purdy is a founding member of the IBM Mobile Computing Industry Advisory Council. He is also co-author of the book published by Macmillan, ThinkPad: A Different Shade of Blue; Creation of a Successful IBM Brand. Dr. Purdy has been a member of the COMDEX Conference Advisory Board and the Advisory Board for TECHXNY (PC Expo). Dr. Purdy earned his B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Tennessee, an M.S. degree in Computer Science from UCLA, and a Ph.D. in Computer Science and Exercise Physiology from Stanford University. He also completed the Market Strategy for High Technology course at Stanford University.
